About Our Paint Correction Service

Over time, your car's paint accumulates damage from improper washing, automatic car washes, parking lot brushes, and environmental fallout. These defects scatter light and dull the finish—you see it as haze or swirl marks when light hits the paint at certain angles. Milliren Mobile Detailing uses professional dual-action and rotary polishers with cutting compounds and polishes to correct these defects, stage by stage, until your paint is restored to a true mirror gloss. Paint correction is also required before ceramic coating application to ensure maximum adhesion.

Paint Correction FAQs

What is paint correction on a car?

Paint correction is the process of mechanically removing a thin layer of your vehicle's clear coat using machine polishers and abrasive compounds to eliminate surface defects like swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and water spots. The result is a dramatically improved paint finish with restored depth and gloss.

Does paint correction remove all scratches?

Paint correction removes swirl marks, light to moderate scratches, and surface defects that are within the clear coat. Deep scratches that penetrate through the clear coat and into the color coat or primer cannot be corrected by polishing and may require touch-up paint or a body shop repair.

How long does paint correction last?

The results of paint correction are permanent—the defects that are removed do not come back. However, new scratches and swirl marks can form over time from improper washing or environmental exposure. Applying a ceramic coating after paint correction is the best way to protect the corrected paint and maintain the finish long-term.

How much does paint correction cost in Chicago?

Paint correction at Milliren Mobile Detailing starts at $600 for a standard car or sedan, $700 for an SUV or crossover, and $800 for a truck or van. A 2-stage correction for severely defected paint costs more. We assess each vehicle individually and provide an accurate quote before starting work.
